Winchester Mystery House.

Here is a place I visited a couple weeks ago and I finally got the pictures up. I'm so behind, I know. But I will have amazing stuff over break. I promise. :)

Here is a bio on the place:
The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years, and is reported to be haunted. This house is located on 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California. It once was the house of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. The mansion is known for its size and bizarre architecture, such as a window built into the floor, staircases and doors that lead to nowhere, doors that opened to blank walls, and chimneys that stopped 1 ½ feet from the ceiling, and upside down posts. According to popular belief, Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of individuals killed by Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would hold them from unleashing their wrath upon her. So she worked on the house day and night with her $20,000,000 inheritance until September 5, 1922 when she died.

There are about 160 rooms, including 40 bedrooms and two ballrooms, one completed and one under construction. The house also has 47 fireplaces, 10,000 window panes, 17 chimneys (with evidence of two others), two basements, three elevators, and one shower. Every room was detailed with either wallpaper or tiling. Even every door handle, light switch, sink, and other little things on the walls had an intricate design. Mrs. Winchester had a fascination with spider webs, daises, and the number 13. These things can be seen throughout the house from the Tiffany windows to the tiling on top of fireplaces to the 13 palm trees lining the driveway of the house and the 13 candles in chandeliers. Every Friday the 13th the large bell on the property is rung 13 times at 13:00 (1 P.M.) in tribute to Winchester.

She also had lovely wallpaper.

She also liked the number 13.

Had beautiful Tiffany glass windows.

This is what I wore on Wednesday. September-Nov are the only times you can wear red and yellow together. So I'm taking advantage of it! :)

Alex & I waiting for BART.

This is what I wore to the show.

Me, when I got home. I was so tired.
All in all, it was a pretty good show. I know have seen The Maine 3 times and A Rocket To the Moon twice. It was good to see VerssEmerge finally after missing them at Warped Tour twice. Cobra Starship was really nice and had a good set. Boys Like Girls was crazier than I thought they would be. I have alot of respect for them now. The show was pretty girly though. 95% was girls. Lots of scenies and little girls with their mom and it was probably their first show. So you can probably imagine how loud the shrieking was not just for the band, but for the techs. I know, wtf right? But we have some insane stories from the show. Just ask us. :D
October 24, 2009.
I've been home all day with swine flu. It is the worst. It's just been computer, crashing, and jello/gingerale all day. Everyone is sick in my family but my Dad. Please pray for us! I hate it so much and I feel so lonely! It's been one long day and I miss everyone! :(
Wash your hands alot and stay healthy!
Love, Jenae.
