Behind The Scenes: The Nutcracker

Over the break, I had my photoshoot for my styling class. Our class had decided that the story of our editorial to be The Nutcracker. The editorial would have four sections to it which were Clara, The Mouse King, The Nutcracker, and The Sugar Plum Fairy. We scoured through our closets and thrift stores for the clothing for the shoot (including my junior prom dress for the Sugar Plum Fairy). I was lucky enough to get the place for our photoshoot to make the story come to life at the Queen Anne Hotel in San Francisco. It's Victorian setting was perfect along with all the Christmas decorations. I took plenty of photos of it that will be in another post. We had great student photographers from the Academy and an amazing makeup artist. We also had incredibly beautiful models Katie and Hanna from Ford Models.

That was my model Hanna who was such a sweetheart. The photoshoot turned out so well and I can't wait to show you guys the final photos on Thursday.

Till then.

leaves.

These are some pictures from my birch trees I took a couple weeks ago. This will be the last blow of fall for me.

Alright, time to get ready for Christmas! I've been craving peppermint mochas everyday now.

So tomorrow I'll have a post on the behind the scenes stuff from the photoshoot and then I'll post the final photos from the photoshoot thursday. Sound good? The pictures turned out so good.

That's all for now.

Lookbook x DNA @ The Common.

On the 11th, I went to this fabulous party in San Francisco at The Common. It had vintage shopping, vendors, and local designers. It was really cool seeing all the cool things and finally meeting people in person. Noelle, Emilia, and Jaime came along with me. Emilia took all the pictures for this post.

It was really awesome meeting  Alyssa Nicole who I had interviewed back in January (here). She is such a sweetheart and it was also cool seeing her designs in person. Her dresses are really well made. She also has a new jewelry line as pictured below. And you can't see it here in any of her pictures but she has really cute freckles!

The dress I have a huge crush on Fancy French Cologne.

I need to go to more parties like these. It was so much fun!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your vacation. More exciting stuff to come!

Love, Jenae.

Winchester Mystery House.

I was looking through my old posts and found that I had never posted this for some reason. I have no idea why. But anyway, I came to the Winchester Mystery House for a project in history last year. Enjoy!

Here is a bio on the place:
The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years, and is reported to be haunted. This house is located on 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California. It once was the house of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. The mansion is known for its size and bizarre architecture, such as a window built into the floor, staircases and doors that lead to nowhere, doors that opened to blank walls, and chimneys that stopped 1 ½ feet from the ceiling, and upside down posts. According to popular belief, Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of individuals killed by Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would hold them from unleashing their wrath upon her. So she worked on the house day and night with her $20,000,000 inheritance until September 5, 1922 when she died.
window panes, 17 chimneys (with evidence of two others), two basements, three elevators, and one shower. Every room was detailed with either wallpaper or tiling. Even every door handle, light switch, sink, and other little things on the walls had an intricate design. Mrs. Winchester had a fascination with spider webs, daises, and the number 13. These things can be seen throughout the house from the Tiffany windows to the tiling on top of fireplaces to the 13 palm trees lining the driveway of the house and the 13 candles in chandeliers. Every Friday the 13th the large bell on the property is rung 13 times at 13:00 (1 P.M.) in tribute to Winchester.

There are about 160 rooms, including 40 bedrooms and two ballrooms, one completed and one under construction. The house also has 47 fireplaces, 10,000

stairs to the ceiling.

Mrs. Winchester had a fascination with cobwebs.

She also liked the number 13.
Had beautiful Tiffany glass windows.

Door To Nowhere.

Much more to come! I hope you guys are having a lovely week so far! :)
